MAYCON SOARES

I’m Maycon Soares—a tattoo artist, painter, and miniature-world creator originally from Brazil, now based in Columbus, Ohio. I hold a degree in architecture from Brazil, but even during my studies, I found myself more captivated by the emotional and expressive side of art than by the technical precision of blueprints. One of my favorite classes was architectural model-making, where I learned to love building small worlds with my hands—something that continues to shape my work today.

Art has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Over time, it led me down a path that blends many forms: fine art, tattooing, miniature sculpture, and natural history. Alongside tattooing and painting, I create handcrafted butterfly domes and tiny dioramas—each one a mix of storytelling, design, and the delicate beauty of preserved specimens. These pieces allow me to bring together my architectural training, my love of detail, and my connection to nature.

In my tattoo practice, I work across all styles because I value the freedom of adapting to each idea and the uniqueness of every person I collaborate with. For me, each tattoo is a small story told through skin—alive, personal, and deeply connected to the wearer.

In my paintings, I primarily work in oils, drawing inspiration from nature, dreams, memory, and emotion. I’m influenced by surrealism, Renaissance depth, and the flowing elegance of Art Nouveau. Nature continues to be one of my biggest teachers; its colors, rhythms, and quiet complexity appear in everything I create, from tattoos to canvas to the miniature worlds under glass.
